I'm Michaela Bekenn and I'm a first year student at Victoria College, studying Theatre, Music and Humanities. I began songwriting about three years ago, around the same time I picked up the guitar for the first time. It has been my creative outlet ever since. I have had a passion for music and the performing arts all my life, performing in two professional productions at the Shaw Festival, and dancing and playing piano from a young age. I look forward to expanding my passion and involvement in the arts while at Vic. I wrote "Around Me" about two years ago, and have enjoyed revisiting it for the Vic Records project.

It has been an honour to be a part of this compilation CD and to collaborate with a group of young, passionate individuals. I believe music fuels the creative mind and is essential to self expression, and most importantly to a full University experience. We hope you enjoy the many sounds Victoria College has to offer.
